Waits Ancestry:
Out of Africa came a generation whose roots were planted against our ancestors' will. From this has sprung a family of many "Still Standing" of Ned and Easter Waits. Our ancestors came out of slavery to settle in the fertile lands of the Mississippi Delta to marry and raise a family in the 1880s and 1890s. From the Mississippi Delta our family migrated to many parts of these United States after the great wars of the 1900s.

We celebrate being descendants of Terry Waits, the son of Ned and Easter, and his wife Bessie Washington, the daughter of Columbus Washington and Annie Williams Washington. Many of us are an extension of their children: Terry, Columbus, Charlena, Ned, Tommie, Walter, Leatha, Pearl, Cora, James and Frank Waits.
